Water crisis

 Water crisis is the lack of fresh water resources to meet up the standard water demand. Physical water scarcity is where there is not enough water to meet up all demands, including that needed for ecosystem to function whilst economic water crisis  is the result of lack of water from rivers,aquifers or other water sources.It also results from weak human  capacity to meet water demand.

Today, water crisis affects billions around the world. 771 million live without access to safe water ,while 1.7 billion live without improved sanitation. It is therefore believed that,empowering women is critical to solving the water crisis because, when women have access to safe water at home, they can pursue.

Deforestation and illegal gold mining have proven to be some causes of water crisis in Ghana.About 23 million people use water that may not follow sanitary standards. This means that, 3.9 million people in Ghana can access water that is safe. 1 in 5 children experience higher /extremely high -water vulnerability and about 4 in 5 people may be drinking water ,contaminated with faecal matter at the point of use.Children in 37 countries face face particular dire circumstances . In such instances,global resources supports and urgent action must be mobilized. Dams and reservoirs, rainwater harvesting, aqueducts,desalination, water reuse and water conservation are solutions humans have adopted to address water crisis.

In 2021, Ghana faced a significant water crisis, with several regions experiencing severe water shortages. The situation was exacerbated by factors such as drought, inadequate infrastructure, and increased demand. The government and local authorities implemented various measures to address the crisis, including water rationing and efforts to improve water supply systems. NGOs and international organizations also contributed to providing clean water access to affected communitie.with many regions experiencing shortages and unreliable water supply. The situation was exacerbated by factors such as climate change, pollution, population growth, and inadequate infrastructure. Efforts were made by the government and various organizations to address the issue, but significant challenges remained in ensuring access to clean and reliable water for all Ghanaians.
