Adjetey Anang

 Adjetey Anang, a Ghanaian actor and an author popularly known as pusher shared part of his life story in an interview at the Ama Ata Aidoo center in AUCC on 28th February 2024.

He narrated how he got into acting by reading a script on a movie production rehearsal he followed his friend who is already an actor to. He went on to explain his relationship with his father. Although he had an unsociable father, his father never dictates  for him and he also didn't take his leniency for granted but took his studies serious and followed his dreams.

 He said " I remember way back in the early 80's, I belong to a drama  club in school which wasn't by choice . I had to choose between that and one other. I love watching movies too. The big dream came when I had to accompany a friend who was already an actor to rehearsal. When we go there,I met the likes of Fella Mugis,Sefa Kayi and the rest and I was soo excited. When I got there,they were rehearsing a script and they asked me to read a part. I think one of the characters haven't turned in so I read the part to help them. After the rehearsal, the director told me I read very well so he is going to make me a promise  that when I come back to Tue next rehearsal he is gonna give me a role. I thought it was a big joke because these were accomplished actors and actresses, I just came in and who knows me. I didn't really believe it but the next rehearsal I saw it as a chance to talk to Fella Mugis  and the rest and I ended up playing a role and what was my first ever TV production. My dad was s a biochemist and he is not that kind of a social person. I like dads who take their children out to picnics and the rest. The only social life he has was when there is a funeral in the family or a member has given birth we have to go for the outdooring. But he wasn't the kind of dad who will say,  I am paying 

 bills so  you have tondo what I say. My father told me whatever I want to be I should be the best amongst the rest although I do not know what to be. He said I should not rely on the talent but also get an education.

When asked how he got to grow his acting skills, he said he does a lot of observation and he is also a number one critic of his works. He added that, most of the time,he doesn't enjoy the work that he does and anytime he listens to himself ,he says to himself that, he could have done better.

He continued to say that he had mentors at the early stages and when it cones to stage performance theaters , David Dontoh was his favorite because of how he makes the stage smaller and has access to a lot of tools and his command over his character and language and on screen And on screen he likes Denzel because he admires his life behind the camera and he is someone who likes to leave a legacy behind.He went on to explain how Chadwick Bossman said Denzel have had an impact on his life (education).

In conclusion, content,budget and people he is going to work with are things he look out for when being approached by a production team to work with.
